![]() Even on the final boss I had my AI guys with very basic spells most of my melee guys with multiple empty slots. Even if the familiar is primarily melee if you equip him with a fire spell they AI will use it all the goddamn time because it can so it's better to just have the spot blank rather than have the fire spell there. Anything you have them equipped with can and will, insanely frequently, be used by your AI teammates. Just because you got an awesome new spell doesn't mean you should equip it. But Gogo is good for the majority of the game too.Įdit oh and make sure you watch your party members spell selections. Sleepeafowl while doesn't have great spells leveling is a great caster for Esther and his crap spell selection can be fixed by gems. Monolith outside Castaway Coveis an amazing tank pet which can be very useful, especially on bosses. Other than those some other great familiars where you are in the story are Bonehead at Mount Smoky, while average to ok leveling, has a physical resistance and one of his final forms is one of the best familiars in the game. It's pretty much a better version of Mite for Esther, 3 move 3 attack speed but really high attack with axes and the accuracy to use them with a good defense. Esther I'd suggest the Hooray, looks like a flying manta ray in the ocean right outside Castaway Cove when you get your ship. Might need to get him to his next form for him not to be squishy but he's got an amazing natural 5 star attack speed with a pretty high attack. For Swaine I'd suggest the Shrimpaler, caught at Old Smoky. Purrlioner if you haven't caught him is right outside Castaway Cove and is great attack and 4 star attack speed. Mite is alright but he becomes more tanky the further on you go. Dungeons aren't very long in this game so you don't get much xp from them so errands are a good way to get more xp and better gear. Even a stupidly high attack with only a 2 star attack speed will do way less damage then a medium attack and high attack speed familiar. Anything heavy on attack with a 4 star attack speed will be great for damage but avoid high attack low attack speed familiars at least where you are at. If you aren't at the level you should be it's like Russta said below you are going to be running around as Oliver as a nut casting spells and consuming items like crazy.īest advice I can give is go in knowing the bosses weakness, equip an elemental weapon to match it if possible if not a couple good familiars should help. To be fair Ni no Kuni isn't heavy on the strat it's about having good familiars/levels.
